Residency with Morphē Arts, St Barnabas, London: May - October 2024
Left to Right: Corrine Chan, Oliver Cottam, Alastair Gordon (Morphē) Zannah Copper, myself, Sarah White (Morphē)
From May until October I was invited by Morphē Arts to participate in their inaugural residency programme in St Barnabas, Dalston along with three other artists: Zannah Copper, Oliver Cottam and Corrine Chan.
This residency provided me with a large studio space along with a revolving programme of talks, workshops and mentoring each Monday, put together by Alastair Gordon and Sarah White from Morphē . Furthermore, a weekly communal lunch, often open to the public, provided a wonderful opportunity to build lasting and important friendships with other artists and the visiting mentors.
The culmination of the residency was a week-long group show of our work, held in St Barnabas. During my time with Morphē, I was able to develop and produce the first in a series of paintings based on an ill-fated cycle across Europe which I undertook in the summer of 2023. Three of these large-scale paintings were exhibited along with the smaller studies and preparatory works.
Going forwards, I will be moving into a new studio in mid-November and continuing the series further.
