Rovereto trip: 11th, 12th November 2023

I was awarded the Jules de Goede award which funded a trip to the city of Rovereto in the northern Trentino region where Depero, his wife Rosetta and their staff worked in the Casa D’Arte Depero which is now a three-floor museum of the artist’s work. Including many of the artist’s large-scale tapestries, furniture, drawings, paintings, sculptures, set-designs and props, it was an incredibly formative trip. From there, I travelled to Florence in order to see the exhibition Depero. Cavalcata fantastica at the Palazzo Medici Riccardi in which there were many more examples of the artist’s tapestries, many of which were later examples than I had previously seen and which were mostly on a smaller scale.
